    this recently happened to my dog "bug". his was not completly broken, but split and broke. the vet tried putting something on it to add strength to the remaining piece. she said its very common and not a big deal if the bleeding is controlled. nothing much happened after that. he didnt seem to care and the bleeding stopped.
